Opening the Root Chakra: Grounding

Grounding
Try a different exercise each day for fifteen days and then repeat them for the next fifteen days. See which ones work for you. If you start in a month that has thirty-one days just use your favorite grounding tool for the last day.
- Take your shoes and socks off and go barefoot for a day.
- Walk barefoot on the grass feeling the nurturing earth beneath your feet.
- Find a tree you feel connects with your energy and hug it. Feel the strength of the tree. This is how you should feel when you are grounded.
- Visualize roots growing from the base of your spine, running between your legs, down each leg, through your feet and into the center of the earth. Allow your roots to connect with the center of the earth and feel the power feeding your body through your roots.
- Stamp your feet on the ground every hour and feel the throbbing sensations in your feet as you do this.
- Dance to your favorite music. Faster music is best to ground you but whatever works for you.
- Focus on being in the here and now - the present moment. Try not to let your focus shift to future or past events. You are in the now, this is where your energy is, so honor yourself by “being here!”
- Eat some food that has come from the ground - potatoes, turnips, carrots, etc. Before you prepare the food hold it in your hands and feel its energy. Bless it for sharing its energy with you. As you prepare your food honor the energy of the individual ingredients. Make this a sacred meal made with intention and love. Before you eat hold your hands over the food and bless it.
- Watch a comedy and feel the difference in your body.
- Write down all the things you appreciate in your life and all the things you don’t appreciate. When you have two lists make some post-its of the things you appreciate and place them around your home. Every time you pass a post-it read it and feel the energy of appreciation.
- Reassess the list of things you do not appreciate in your life and change each “challenge” into a “gift.” Write it on a post-it and place them around your home and work. For instance, if you do not appreciate your bills write “I love and appreciate my bills.” If you are having difficulty in a relationship write “I appreciate the gifts this relationship brings me.”
- Now think about the things that would enhance your life and look at how they are already manifested.
- Give some money to charity
- Clear your space of clutter - any clutter is a reflection of your inner world. Clearing clutter allows new energy to come into your life.
- Affirm: I love who I am - say this all day at any opportunity
