The word Coincidence is derived from the Latin co meaning “in, with, or together,” and incidere meaning to “fall on.” Essentially a coincidence is the alignment of two or more events or circumstances that have no obvious connection, while Synchronicity, a term coined by Swiss psychologist Carl Jung explains meaningful coincidences that often appear to be psychic such as when talking about someone and moments later that same person telephones.

There are many astounding stories of synchronicities and coincidences. For instance, Morgan Robertson’s 1898 novella of a fictional state-of-the-art ocean liner called Titan, which collides with an iceberg on a clear April evening whilst en-route to New York is a chilling parallel with the Titanic disaster of 1912.  She later, wrote a book, Beyond the Spectrum, describing a future war that starts when the Japanese man a sneak attack on Hawaii. She also mentions aircraft that carry “sun bombs,” that could destroy a city and blind all that look at it.  Are these coincidences, synchronicities or psychic links with the fabric of time?

Some years ago I was part of a television show planned for Halloween or Samhain called Weird Night.  One unplanned incident occurred when production was about to start, but one of the crew was missing. Someone found a phone number for him and called it. As expected he picked up the phone. But, here is the coincidence. He had gone out for a walk around an area of the city he did not usually frequent. As he passed a phone box the phone rang. Like a good citizen he answered it. It was the studio asking him to return to work!

Author Elizabeth Kubler-Ross said that there are no mistakes, no coincidences. All events are blessings given to learn from.  In optics a coincidence is used to describe two or more incident beams of light that hit the same point at the same time. I find this interesting because we are made of light. Maybe we are made of multiple beams of light and these beams splay out in all directions of time, sometimes passing through the fabric of time meeting other beams and creating synchronous coincidences.

This newsletter is about coincidences and synchronicities, glitches in the universe that have in some way been created by your own power. Some of these are obvious, some not so. Suffice it to say, notice these events in your life. They show that you are going in the right direction. From an esoteric perspective there are no coincidences, but when they appear it is said to reveal that we are following the right path, and listening to our inner guide.
