Devotion to the Goddess
We are all born of the Goddess and while she is traditionally tri-fold she is also a four-fold deity revealed in the elements of nature. She is the earth clothed by nature, manifest in the hills and mountains. She gives us life in the air we breathe. She is the flowing water of the oceans, rivers and streams. She is the fire within the belly of Gaia and the shimmering stars in the night sky.
I am reminded to honor the Goddess and the spirits of nature as I read, “The Findhorn Garden.” Findhorn is a spiritual community in northern Scotland. It is a place where the most wonderful plants, flowers, trees and vegetables have been grown on windswept and barren sand dunes, some of them beyond their normal size, for many years. Their success lies in the gardener’s cooperation with the plant kingdom namely the nature spirits, elementals and devas. The most important message the nature spirits share with their human nurturers is that we are all one working in unity in support of the whole.
This month make it your intention to become more aware of nature and your connection with the elements. Maybe one particular element draws you. If it does, make a link with the spirit of this element. Ask the devas of your favorite plant to help you to best nurture its growth. Sense the spirit of the plants and flowers that offer their beauty to you. Hug and appreciate the power of your favorite tree. Be grateful for the energy the plant kingdom shares with you and graciously share your love with them.
