Hearing & Listening

I have been very aware this month of the gift to listen. Hearing is distinct from listening. In order to hear our guides, teacher, intuition, or anyone, we have to listen. Listening means being present and not stepping two jumps ahead of ourselves. I am amazed how many people will want me to give them answers to questions that if they took the time they would be able to hear for themselves. The problem is that even if I give them the answer, or what I interpret as the answer, it does not mean that they are going to listen to message. I suppose in some instances we have to be ready to receive, but being open to receive is a part of that listening process.

I have a fridge magnet with a picture of a cat on it with the inscription, “What people need is a good listening to!” When someone is not listening to something you are saying it changes the energy. Remember that where attention goes energy flows. So, when you do not pay attention to someone who is speaking to you, they will feel or sense the lack of energy. As a sensitive I am very aware of this shift in energy, especially when I am working with students and clients and I hit upon something that they do not want to be aware of.

Notice this energy in your own life. Notice when your mind drifts and what happens to the energy. Take note of this feeling when you are communicating with others. It is an awareness that will help you understand your own consciousness.

Make a Wish

When I was a child we had a program on the television called, “Bizzy Lizzy.” It was a cartoon about a little girl who wore a dress with a Bizzy Lizzy flower motif on its pocket. Whenever she wanted to make a wish she would touch the flower and recited this verse - Izzy Lizzy lets get Bizzy. She only had three wishes, yet she would consistently make four wishes. The fourth wish would negate the previous ones.

Well, I thought I would design a Wish bracelet made from golden and pink crystal beads. Gold is one of the colors of abundance. It represents the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, golden opportunities, and of course the golden light of spirit. Pink is the color of unconditional love, receptivity, and abundance. You can also bring this gold and pink into your life during meditation or when you want to manifest something. Just imagine the energy of whatever it is you want to attract imbued with golden pink light.

My first book, Wishing: How to Fulfill Your Heart’s Desires will be published May 2008 by Atria/ Beyond Words/Simon & Schuster.
