Light on Relationships
“Keep your face to the sunshine and you will not see the shadows.”
Helen Keller
Life is ever changing, that’s what’s so good about it. If it stayed the same we would miss the opportunity for growth that each transitional phase offers us. Alexander Graham Bell said, “When one door closes another door opens, but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.”
Open doors are all around us we just need to see the signs. But even when we see the sign and we know in our hearts that it is time to let go, time to move forward, time to walk through that new door we grit our teeth and stubbornly say, “No! This is not what I want.” Have you noticed that when you do this nothing seems to work? This is a sign that it is not the right choice for you. Country singer Garth Brooks has a line in one of his songs that says, “Happiness isn’t getting what you want it’s wanting what you got.”
This is often most obvious in our love relationships. Every relationship we have is there for our growth, it is not there so that we can possess the other person, or vice versa. Each person we choose to journey with has his or her own agenda in this lifetime. We cruise together relating with each other in some way, for better or worse. Then one day the winds change taking us in opposite directions. And yet we can tend to resist the change, choosing to hold on.
Why would we struggle to continue journeying with someone when the course our soul has chosen for us is so much better? Because we fear that there will be nothing else out there for us. We fear being alone. We fear that we are not good enough or pretty enough, or slim enough, or clever enough, or nice enough, to have another relationship. Fear keeps us trapped in patterns and ways of being that are in conflict with the path of our souls. Your heart knows the truth. Knowing who you are and what you have come to achieve will help you let go of your fears.
Life is not about an all-consuming relationship, it is about acknowledging and using your talents, being of service, having purpose, discovering your true essence, and most of all it’s about having fun. When you truly recognize that there is only one of us here, you will come to appreciate that you are in relationship with yourself and that each relationship is just allowing an aspect of your essence to show up.
Imagine the Divine Spark as a power station full of electricity. We are one with the Divine so we are the electricity. When we come to earth we need a vehicle of expression so we come in the guise of a lamp - table lamps, chandeliers, desk lamps, etc. The Divine light shines through each of us, we are all the same, the only thing that makes us different is our outer shell. Fear is present when we see ourselves as individuals instead of as one.
Can you accept that you are here to shine brighter? The people you meet, the events that you take part in, the life you lead are all parts of the game to help you to understand that you are not the lamp. You are the light.
As you allow your light to shine you unconsciously give others permission to do the same. This is your purpose, your true essence. Becoming a Light-Worker or a healer means that you acknowledge your own light in order to share this light with others. The more you are willing to shine the more light you are able to give.
This month look at your relationships and begin to see each person as if they were you. Could you love that person a little more? Would you be able to forgive them if the tables were turned? Have you shown your light or your shadow side in this relationship? Could you share a little more of your light than you have been?
“You are what your deep driving desire is; As your deep driving desire is, so is your will; As your will is so is your deed; As your deed is so is your destiny.” The Upanishads
If your driving desire is to be the light then this will be your destiny.
I have been going through a transition and I thank you for sharing your light with me during this time. I felt the glow of your brightness and I appreciated your warmth.
This year I will be teaching the 5-day InTuition: Psychic Sensitivity Training workshop at Omega at the end of August with a follow-up weekend two weeks later. This weekend is only for those who have attended the five-day workshop and may be a course I will teach every couple of years rather than regularly.
Some of you asked for Internet Readings during my transition and I apologize for my inability to work in this way. When my light is dim I cannot give as fully as I would wish. I am ready to shine again.
Namaste
Love and blessings,
Elizabeth
